LYNNWOOD MAN COOKS UP A BIG WIN IN RAFFLE
Winner Plans to Use $100,000 for New Business Adventure
OLYMPIA — David Hayward, a 54-year-old street use inspector from Lynnwood , says he has been dreaming about winning the Lottery for nearly five years. After opening up a mobile catering company with a friend as a side job, he’s hoped for a long time to have a building of their own through which they can operate full-time.
Hayward saw the Washington ’s Lottery Million Dollar Raffle tickets for sale at his local grocery store and decided the great odds might be just the ticket to his dream. When he pulled up the Lottery web site to check his numbers after the June 26 th drawing, he kept rubbing his eyes to make sure he was seeing the numbers correctly.
“I saw my numbers matched for $100,000, but I just couldn’t believe it,” Hayward said. “I kept tossing and turning in bed for days after I saw the winning numbers. Before I claimed the prize I kept thinking, ‘Could this be real?’ And I went in to check my ticket at the Lottery office and I found out I really won! Hard to believe my dreams are coming true, this is really amazing.”
Hayward says the first thing he plans to do with his money is check out a potential catering space in Redmond .
“I’ve been dreaming about this for so long, owning my own business,” Hayward said. “I already have it all worked out how to make it happen. Now I have the money to make it work.”
Hayward won one of four second tier $100,000 prizes in the Million Dollar Raffle with winning ticket 147392 . He purchased his winning ticket from Dominic’s Red Apple Market located at 9627 Des Moines Memorial Dr. in Seattle .
